My HP Color laserjet CP1215 keeps printing multiple copies?

Everytime I print something on my laptop it ALWAYS prints more than what I want.


It usually prints about 6 or more copies of the page(s) that I want.


I always make sure when I print it's one copy, but it still does that.


And I only press print once.


I have no idea what's happening, and it's wasting so much paper and ink.


While on another laptop, it prints the amount of sheets asked.

This is a known problem, that occurs with Microsoft Office 2003 and Xerox, but you have an HP, and why am I telling you this, well, some of the drivers from HP are the same as some of the drivers from Xerox, so you will have to uninstall your printer, your all the drivers, and unplug the printer, this will reset everything, make sure that you unplug the printer, restart your computer, and then download all your drivers from HP, and download the latest drivers from HP, make sure you don't use the drivers from your CD, install the the printer as told on screen, and test it.

You may think your paper is ok but most likely the paper is humid. Do you have a heat source nearby like a TV or stereo where you can dry out some sheets to see if that fixes. This happens all the time in my basement where I use a LaserJet 4P.

Great buy if you would print a lot of documents without color. Color toner tends to be pricey.
Knowing what I know about the 3600n, I would make sure it is working, and if it is, buy it. While the replacements cost quite a bit they print out a lot of pages. This is much better than the CLJ 2600n.
It's really good. All HP printers are. I am using one (not like the one you said, but still HP) and I like them a lot. Most people would choose HP printers over other printers. 150 dollars looks very good for a LaserJet. Buy it!

ummm sorry you didn't tell us what operating system you had... so i couldn't be more specific.
*IF* you mean in the Device Manager, it means the drivers for that printer are coruppted and\or missing.





In either case, you need to UNinstall them, shut down computer, wait a ferw minutes, then restart computer and let Windows find and install the drivers.

1. Make sure you are using white paper as darker paper fills the memory very fast.





2. Perform a Super NVRAM Initialization





To perform a Super NVRAM init


1. Turn off the all-in-one.


2. Press and hold down the * and 5 buttons.


3. Continue to hold down the buttons while you turn on the all-in-one. Hold the buttons throughout


the entire power-on sequence.


4. When Permanent Storage Init. appears on the control-panel display, release the buttons.


5. When prompted, set the language and telecom country/region.


6. Allow the all-in-one to return to Ready before using it.

MY Hp laserjet 4100mfp prints come out of the back how can i make them come out of the front?

Pretty basic really, just close the rear output bin door. The printer will only print there if the door is open, once closed it puts the prints out on top facedown. The rear output bin is for faceup prints or for straight through printing for difficult, thick or unusual media when done from tray 1 and can help reduce paper curl.

You actually don't need to replace anything.





You either have a spill, or your image transfer belt is pooched. Hope for a spill.





First remove all toners, if you see an excessive amount of magenta toner inside the unit you have a spill. In this case carefully replace all the toner and print a series of blank pages to pick up the excess. If this fails replace the magenta toner, and try again.

Uninstall the device drivers, get the newest ones from the manufacturer, then reboot and install them anew. This does away with most problems with computer peripherals. Also check your sistem specs against those of the printer. Perhaps there's some kind of incompatibility.

I am under the impression that HP has 1 year warranty on its products. If the printer is not printing (and you are assuming that it is the magenta toner), HP should replace the printer. It also depends where you bought the printer from. Places like costco have better warranties than the manufacturers.
There is no issue with the cartridge, however you do need to be very careful with the replacement.





Unfortunately HP does not offer a guarantee on their consumable parts. Thus you will have to replace the magenta toner out of pocket.

Sadly, the most likely problem is the ink cartridge. You can try some things I have done to get extra life out of it. Also note just because it is a new cartridge does not mean it is full when you take it out of the package. Remove the cartridge and shake it, reinstall and try it, if that doesn't work buy a refill kit, or buy just the red ink with a syringe and needle you can add ink. It is not too difficult, many times they have 3 different colored plugs, remove the plug fill with ink, replace the plug and try it. Some times there are no plugs. In that situation you will need to drill a hole. Most refill kits include a drill bit. Instead of using a drill motor, use a battery powered screw driver, if you can or a manual drill motor sometimes called a brace or speed twister. Kits have the instructions, it鈥檚 not that hard. Also take a clean paper towel and clean the nozzle area carefully. double check to insure the paper size is set to A4, sometimes when it's set to 'letter' the margins can be cut off
It can be due to selection of wrong paper size. Go in Page setup then Options or Prining preferences and select the correct paper size. hopefully it will work.

The OCR software I am most familiar with converting hard copy documents through an HP scanner is OMNIPAGE PRO Version 11 manufactured by ScanSoft Inc Peabody, Mass, and does well converting hard copy documents into editable text incl MS Word doc files.





At work we used an HP Digital Sender 9200c that is a scanner that will convert hard copy into Adobe Acrobat.pdf files sent to an email address and then with the Adobe Acrobat Professional software you can edit, cut %26amp; paste, delete, add pages etc.

Try going in from the back of the printer with something long, fairly thin and solid (a sturdy stick?) just above the top of the paper tray and with the tray pushed all the way in, try pushing down the front section of the paper tray that lifts the paper up to the rollers when installed and have someone try pulling the tray out while you push the paper down. You could also use a flashlight to look into the tray from the back to see if you see anything out of place blocking the tray and move it out of the way to remove the tray.

Spots or a line? Either way it is probably a fuser problem. Laser printers have a fuser that has a teflon roller that presses the toner down on the paper. These rollers wear out or get damaged. On that printer it is probably not worth replacing. The sleeve alone will run you close to 50 dollars by the time you get it shipped in.

First off, your laptop has to have an infrared port that is working. Then you go to the printer properties and tell it to use that IR port.

If you're using generic cartridges, stop.


1st try a new OEM cartridge, if this doesn't clear it up then the fusor needs serviced.


If the line is the full length of the page its a physical problem, normally in the drum cartridge.


Using generic cartridge will cost you more money in the long run..1. they don't last as long and 2 they are made of cheaper materials and sometimes the drum has not been replaced.


Using an OEM cartridge, from HP, means all the components are new.
Try taking the toner cartridge out and shaking it back and forth to distribute the toner. If you still get the line open up toolbox and click on clean cartridge.

Currently the best thing to do is to go into your device manager and right click on the device and update the driver there. You can check the HP support web site too. I had a similar problem with my Dell AIO printer where I could no longer print to it when I installed Vista. I had to move the printer to my Windows 2000 box and network the printer. Eventually Microsoft had an updated driver for the printer so I can use it again.

Basically all you need to do is search for the drivers online. But i should think that vista will allready have the drivers on the operating system. But trey a google search anyway to be sure.
If HP doesn't have them on their website and Vista didn't load the driver automatically the driver might not exist. Some printer manufacturers aren't putting out Vista drivers for older printers. Check www.hp.com and search for your printer model and see if there's a Vista driver. If not, try plugging in the printer and see if Vista has the driver preloaded.

You toner/drum is shot.





Hopefully you are near the end of your toner as what has happened is that you either have a scratch or mark on your electrostatic drum (that green roller on your toner) This is attracting TOO much toner and causing a black streak. The only way to solve this is to replace the toner cartridge.

Every printer is different in how it comes apart, what breaks down, how parts are replaced, etc. You'll need to be good with mechanics, basic electronics, electro-mechanical knowledge, computers, interface communications, etc.. You'll need to be able to troubleshoot using service manuals and your own instincts. Get your hands on an old laser printer or two (working preferably) and take them apart to see what makes them tick. Service manuals are invaluable when starting out to see how to take things apart and understand what to look for and where.

I have a LaserJet 5000 printer that I use to print 11x17 prints.


The Printer came with 8 Mega Byte ram Dimm.


The files that I receive over the internet are much larger.


I've purchased additional 64 MB of RAM but the printer gives me error message ';Out of Memory'; - The entire file is only 10mb.

That errorthat oyu are getting is from Windows,not the printer. To make a test, go in your control pandel and select printer properties. Put a check where it says ';print directly to printer';. This way, it will not spool and print directly.





But, like I said, the windows resources is your problem. Not the printer.

I think Chas is thinking of an inkjet printer, not a laser. More than likely you have a bad toner cartridge, but your laser or high voltage power supply may be bad. A thick line of toner around the cartridge does indicate that there is a problem with the cartridge not fully cleaning the drum, but doesn't necessarily mean the cartridge is bad to the point it is causing the problem you've described. Here are the steps directly out of the service manual for your printer:





Black page


A page is completely black.



The toner cartridge may not be installed properly. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it.



The toner cartridge may be defective. Replace it.



There may be discontinuities in the high-voltage contact points. Clean the high voltage contact points on the toner cartridge and transfer roller.



Replace the DC Controller or Laser/Scanner unit

The cart. face and the cart. seat need to be cleaned periodically with a damp Q-tip. The contacts are probably inked over. Clean them.





Also go into Prefences and make sure that that you are not printing the backgrounds. Sometimes you may want to print backgrounds but you'll save mucho ink if you don't.

My HP laserjet 1020 leaves a shadowing of the print I've tried running the built in cleaning utility?

What you need to do is slean the drum itself with a very soft micro-fiber cloth. Make sure that their is no light hitting the Drum itself as it may damage it. I susually clean it in a dark corner.





Why it leaves a shadow is because their is some toner on the drum itself. After cleaning, close the cover and it should work perfectly.





Do NOT put ANY liquid whatsover on the cloth. Just dry clean it . Period.

OK, this will depend on a lot of things, including which OS you are using, if you are in a Domain etc.





But, the general rules to prevent others printing to a shared printer are as follows:

That is a very nice printer. If I were you, I'd set it up on the network. Give it an ip address via the front panel (ip address, mask, and gateway are required) and hook it up to the network. Then you can print to it from any computer. When you set up the printer on your computer, choose local port and add a ';standard tcpip port'; and put in the IP address of the printer. You need to put in an address that is about 30 numbers or so above your computer's ip address. If this is a home network that would apply, for an office network, check with the system admin for your ip address.

The standard Q2612A cartridge is rated for 2000 pages. Big Box Office Stores sell it for around $70. Which means in the perfect world it will only cost you 3.5 cents for each page, not including paper.





If you figured 10 cents per page, you should make a small profit after toner and paper. Now there are some websites that sell a replacement called the Q2612X that is rated for 2800 to 3000 pages. Will work just as well and not void a warranty. It will knock down your cost per page a little, which means more money for you.





If you look at upgrading in the future, look at the Brother line of printers, specifically the HL-5200 series. It runs around 2 cents per page (not including paper) print if you buy the high yield cartridge. Replacements of course lower your cost per page. Click on Services Local





Now go down to Print Spooler and set it to Automatic

Go to your printer, right click on it and select properties. Under one of your tabs there should be spooling configuration there.

If you want to run it wireless, you need to place it on your network. Can you print from your computer right now? What would be the best solution, if you are not quite sure how to do this but need other computers to be able to print to it, is to share it out from the computer you have it installed on. Right click on the printer inside control panel, adn do sharing. Then on the other computers on your network, do find printer and look for that printer. My Hp LaserJet 3015 printer produces print jobs that have a really dark background. How can I get rid of it?

I am running this on Ubuntu Kernel 7.10x. However, this should not matter because when I print a page out from the printer directly I get the same problem. Do I need to somehow clean it? Sounds like there is something wrong with the toner (most likely black), or your printer has an issue controlling the amount of black coming out.





First, take the toner you have out and reput it in so that it recalibrates.





Second, see if your printer has a cleaning cycle (prints out blank for along time with heat to clean everything off).





Third, attempt to use a new black toner.





Otherwise, I hope your under warranty, but it most likely wont be worth trying to fix. HP LJs are GREAT though!

If your install disk has already been run, go to the Device Driver with the printer disconnected and if the printer driver shows up, uninstall it.


go to add hardware and click on add device, when it asks if the device has been installed, click no.


It will then tell you to install (hook it back up) it now.


Follow all directions and when it gives you the option, click the ';I will install the hardware myself'; and click I have a disk.


When it asks for the disk, put it in.
Frist of all completely uninstall the drivers %26amp; ur printer then restart ur machine install the drivers %26amp; ur printer if it doesn't work now too, then got to hp's site there u can find some patch files or exe's which when run will detect ur printer %26amp; install the drivers.


because my scanner had too got this problem %26amp; i solved it by downloading the required patch %26amp; it installed my scanner %26amp; its drivers.

Hard to say without knowing more. Is it a re-occurring dot down the page? or dots scattered all over?





Most probably you have a bad toner cartridge that is not working properly leaving multiple dots all over. It is the simplest thing to try and see if that fixes it, though they are expensive, but probably the fix it needs.





A re-occurring dot down the page could be the toner cartridge, fuser assembly or some other roller that needs cleaning.

I see you're back again. Guess you didn't have the Postscript driver. Maybe the PCL5 driver will work better for you then. Click on this link:

This is HP's website and is the download link for the latest P2015 PCL5 driver for both XP and Vista (since you didn't say which you have) as well as a few others. Download, run and install it for your printer and select it as your default printer and you should be good to go. On that same page there is a tab for installation instructions as well if you should need them.

Why do u need to change it? As far as I have used the Hp P2015, when you install it, you will se 2 printers being installed i.e PCL5 and PCL6. So its you want to use PCL5, make it default. No need to change anything.
