I think some paper jammed in it, because after it started to act up I got a small piece out. I can't find anymore. It was smearing down the left side of copy, then I changed the cartridge and now there is a nasty black smear on the right side. souds like you may have a little bit of paper left in the machine or you have torn the fixing film ( the part that melts toner to paper) fast way to tell. print a page and if you can wipe the smear off then you have a torn fixing film. if the smear wont wipe off then it is a bad toner or paper in the machine. i would call a hp service center and ask them prices......good luckHp LaserJet 1000 series computer printer has black smear on copy.?
you should take it back or to the hp place to get it fixed or you can just take it apart your self and clean every thing. It's from a leak from the ink carirrage.
