Have an HP 2840 laserjet printer that says engine error. Can anyone help?

Printer will not print. Have reinstalled drivers, firmware, ink supplies, imaging drum, cleaned the unit, restarted the computer - all things suggested by HP website and owners manual. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. Unit has worked faithfully for over 3 yrs.Have an HP 2840 laserjet printer that says engine error. Can anyone help?
So you've called HP support then ? As part of the info under ';engine error'; for that machine is

';Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the device to initialize.

If the error continues to persist, contact Hewlett-Packard for technical support to troubleshoot the problem. ';

Most likely it's a controller or DC controller card failure, which will NOT be economically viable tor repair, if it's not under warranty.

Time for a new machine.,
